The has permitted for the sick person if using water would harm their body or delay their recovery, due to the Almighty's saying: (Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity), and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If I command you to do something, then do as much of it as you can," and as an inclusion in the general meaning of the Almighty's saying: (And if you are ill or on a journey). The sick person should not exaggerate in washing or rubbing a limb if it would harm them, nor should they exaggerate in sniffing water into the nose if it would be detrimental to them.
