What is the permissible speech during the initial legitimate viewing sessions of a prospective bride, and is it permissible to call her by her bare name or to joke with her to make her laugh, and is it permissible to prolong the viewing time with permissible conversation merely to continue looking at her?

The Sharia (definition) has guided the suitor to look at his fiancée (the woman he intends to marry) in order to achieve acceptance. As for directing questions, it depends on what the suitor wants to know about her religiosity and character, within the limits of permissible speech with a non-mahram (definition) woman, such as calling her by her name simply and speaking with her only as needed.

It is permissible to repeat the gaze if the suitor needs to ascertain her appearance. However, joking and excessive laughter are unnecessary. If he wishes to know detailed matters, he may send a woman to look at her and describe her to him.
