Suspicions (Shubuhat) are matters that are unclear due to their ambiguity and lack of distinctness. Scholars have interpreted them as four things: conflicting evidence, scholarly disagreement, the reprehensible (), and the permissible () that falls under the category of what is better to avoid ( al-awla). What appears to be the most accurate is conflicting evidence. A Muslim must be cautious concerning his religion and avoid falling into them.
