If a woman embraces Islam while her husband remains a disbeliever, her marriage becomes dependent on the iddah (waiting period). If the husband embraces Islam during the iddah, he has a greater right to her; otherwise, the marriage is annulled upon its completion. After the iddah ends, she is permitted to marry whomever she wishes among Muslims, according to Islamic conditions, and you may propose to her at that time.
