ما هي كيفية طلاق اللعان؟
Her husband becomes forbidden to her immediately upon the completion of the li'an (mutual imprecation). Any talaq (divorce) pronounced by him after the li'an is not effective, as it occurs after the marital bond has been severed, thus having no locus to apply.
It is stated in Al-Sharh Al-Kabeer by Al-Dardir Al-Maliki: "And by her li'an, meaning upon its completion, her perpetual prohibition upon him becomes obligatory, the marriage is dissolved, and the hadd (prescribed punishment) is lifted from her."
In Al-Majmoo' by Al-Nawawi Al-Shafi'i: "And for us, it is a separation that necessitates perpetual prohibition, thus it is an annulment, like the separation due to suckling."
In Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudamah Al-Hanbali: "Indeed, she becomes perpetually forbidden to him by the li'an, so she is not lawful for him, even if he retracts his accusation, according to the apparent view of the madhhab."
