Is it permissible to slaughter and eat a sheep whose abdomen was torn open by dogs, and part of its intestines protruded while it was still alive?

Scholars have differed on the issue, and perhaps the most accurate opinion is the permissibility of eating the sheep if its ritual slaughter was performed before its death, and it had a stable life. However, if it did not have a stable life, then it is safer not to eat it. Imam An-Nawawi, in "Al-Majmu'", detailed the madhahib (schools of thought) of scholars regarding the ruling on an animal that was strangled, bludgeoned, or similar, if it was then ritually slaughtered. He mentioned that there are three situations for such an animal, some of which are permissible and some not, depending on whether life remained in it.
