Is it permissible to request a reduction in the volume of a device playing the Holy Quran if the sound is loud and bothers the listener or causes them to lose focus on their work, or if the reciter's voice is unappealing?

It is permissible for someone who is bothered by the loud volume of a reciter's device to request that it be lowered, and the one from whom this is requested must comply, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prohibition of raising one's voice with the Qur'an if it results in harm. However, if the reason for the request is that the listener dislikes the reciter's voice, then the listener should focus on contemplating the Qur'an. Nevertheless, there is no objection to requesting a reduction in volume if the listener does not find the recitation of certain reciters pleasing, as he is not obligated to take the Qur'an from a specific person, and disliking it is beyond his control.
