The answer

Nawawi pledged in the book Riyadh al-Salihin to only mention authentic hadiths. However, some contemporary scholars, such as Al-Albani and Al-Arna'ut, have deemed some of its hadiths weak. Therefore, the student of knowledge should act upon what has been agreed upon as authentic, and examine what has been deemed weak. If they find supporting evidence for it, they may act upon it. But if it contradicts something more authentic, they should act upon the more authentic. They should seek the assistance of scholars in this matter.
