The answer

It is permissible for someone whose ablution (wudu') was invalidated during the second prayer to renew their ablution and perform the prayer in which their ablution was invalidated, combining it with the first prayer. This is based on the opinion of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and the scholar al-Uthaymeen, who do not stipulate continuity (muwalat) between two prayers combined as jam' taqdim (combining and bringing forward). However, according to those who stipulate continuity between the two combined prayers, if the interval is long, the combining becomes void, and the second prayer must then be performed at its own designated time. In this case, combining is not permissible, even for someone with a valid excuse.
