Is it permissible to work in the sale of forbidden things, such as pork, cigarettes, and lottery tickets, knowing that this is the only source of income to support one's studies and family in a country where it is difficult to find a lawful job?

The ways to earn a lawful livelihood are many and available, for sustenance is in the hand of Allah. And whoever fears Allah, He will provide for him from where he does not expect, as stated in His saying, the Almighty: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decrealed] extent." And His saying: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him ease in his affair." Therefore, one must abandon unlawful earnings, for unlawful money does not enter Paradise, and every flesh that grew from ill-gotten gains, the Fire is more befitting for it, as was narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. And if education compels you to unlawful earnings, then abandon it until Allah facilitates for you lawful money to complete your studies.
