The appearance of the Mahdi is the first of the major signs of the Hour. Muhammad al-Barzanji mentioned in his book "Al-Isha‘ah li Ashrat al-Sa‘ah" that the Mahdi is the first of the great signs and proximate indications that will be followed by the Hour.
