Satan (Shaytan) is a type of malicious, rebellious, and defiant Jinn. Among the Jinn, there are believers and disbelievers, and righteous and wicked ones.

As for the ranks of Jinn, they are: Jinni (a general term for a Jinn), 'Amir (one who dwells with people), Arwah (those who appear to children), Shaytan (if they become malicious and rebellious), and 'Ifrit (if their power and matter increase).
