What is the ruling on benefiting from a gift from a usurious bank?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is not permissible to accept a gift from a usurious bank. It must be spent on the welfare of Muslims because it falls into one of two situations:

First: The gift is in exchange for a deposit, and the depositor is a lender to the bank. It is not permissible for the lender to benefit from the borrower, according to the hadith: "Every loan that draws a benefit is usury (riba)."

Second: The gift is intended to encourage the client to engage in usurious transactions, and this is not permissible as a means of blocking the path to falling into forbidden acts.
