Why hasn't the Hour (Day of Judgment) come to pass, despite 1400 years having elapsed since its proximity was mentioned in the Quran? And what is the wisdom behind that?

The Quranic texts and prophetic hadiths have consistently affirmed the closeness of the Hour (Day of Judgment). Scholars have not come across any discourse on the wisdom behind its delay for over 1400 years. However, this delay does not contradict its closeness mentioned in the texts, for a thousand years in the age of time is nothing significant.

The approaching of the Hour is considered an expression that the major part of the world's lifespan has passed and only a little remains, and that the Hour's coming is very near to Allah. Allah Almighty has hidden the time of the Hour's advent for the benefit of His servants, so that they do not slacken in preparing and getting ready for it, just as concealing the time of death is more beneficial and advantageous for them.
