What is the ruling on someone who lives within the Haram (sacred precinct) and works outside it, and wishes to perform Umrah, so he assumes ihram from his workplace outside the boundaries of the Haram, and does not go to Tan'im or elsewhere, then proceeds directly to the Haram?

If you assume ihram (definition) for Umrah (definition) from your workplace, located outside the boundaries of the Haram (definition), then your action is valid and your Umrah is sufficient. However, if you assume ihram from your home, then go to your workplace, and from there to the Haram to perform Umrah, you are required to offer a fidyah (definition) (sacrifice a sheep) for not assuming ihram from the miqat (definition), although your Umrah is sufficient. You are not required to offer a fidyah for wearing sewn clothes if it was due to ignorance.
