Is the Basmala part of Al-Fatiha? And is reciting it obligatory?

Scholars have differed regarding the Basmalah: whether it is a verse from every , or only from Al-Fatihah, or not a verse from either. However, they have agreed that it is part of a verse in Surah An-Naml. The most preponderant opinion is that it is a verse from Al-Fatihah and must be recited with it.
