Is it sufficient to rely on the Qur'an and Sunnah without referring to the sayings of scholars?

Allah divided people into the knowledgeable and the ignorant, and He elevated the people of knowledge. They distinguish between the abrogating and the abrogated, the absolute and the restricted, the general and the specific, the ambiguous and the clear, the problematic and that which suggests contradiction, the obscure, the manifest, and the interpreted. Therefore, the ignorant were commanded to ask the knowledgeable, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against taking ignorant leaders who issue fatwas without knowledge, thereby going astray and leading others astray. Ibn al-Qayyim says that the people of knowledge guard the religion by refuting the distortions of the extremists, the fabrications of the false claimants, and the misinterpretations of the ignorant.
