The answer

It is not permissible to deposit money in interest-based banks except in cases of extreme necessity, such as fear of loss and the absence of Islamic banks. In such a situation, it is permissible to deposit only in a current account. One must repent to Allah and dispose of the usurious interest by spending it on the welfare of Muslims or on the poor and needy. It is not permissible to use it to pay social security or taxes.
