Is the story of making a vow aloud to oneself, with the intention of testing and inquiry without the intention of creation or drawing closer (to God), a binding vow?

Nothing is entailed by what is merely conceived in the mind, for a vow is not established by doubt or by self-talk, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah what they talk to themselves about, as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it." If the words were uttered with the intention of confirming something and under the influence of obsessive thoughts, then the vow does not take effect. Repeating words with the intention of examining the phrase, without intending to make a vow, entails nothing. It is advisable to adhere to supplication, turn away from obsessive thoughts, and consult a psychiatrist.
