What are the characteristics that must be present in the Islamic hijab, and has it been reported that the hijab must be a long jilbab?

The Shar'i (Islamic legal) hijab encompasses eight conditions:

1. It must cover the entire body, except for what has been exempted, such as the face and hands.

2. It must not be an adornment in itself.

3. It must be thick and not transparent.

4. It must be loose-fitting, not tight.

5. It must not be perfumed or scented.

6. It must not resemble the clothing of men.

7. It must not resemble the clothing of disbelieving women.

8. It must not be a garment of fame or ostentation.
