Would an unmarried young woman agree to an engagement with a suitor who confronts her with demands she cannot meet, appears to her in a dream, and informs her of the presence of jinn in her house causing the delay of her marriage, or should she wait for a suitable suitor?

A woman's frequent rejection of suitors, or their rejection of her, can lead to her advancing in age and spinsterhood. Therefore, she should take this into consideration. Piety and good character should be the basis for choosing a suitor, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If someone whose religion and character you approve of comes to you seeking marriage, then marry him." As for differences in age, financial status, and social standing, they do not legally prevent marriage. She is not legally obliged to serve his mother unless that was stipulated and she agreed; and she has the right to stipulate similar conditions upon him. She should consult trustworthy individuals and seek Allah's guidance through istikhara, and dreams are not to be relied upon in this matter. If she fears the presence of magic, she should resort to ruqyah shar'iyyah (Islamic exorcism).
