What is to be done with a person who committed a sin based on false information, and does the perpetrator bear their sins in full, or do they transfer to the one who transmitted the false information, in accordance with His, the Almighty’s, saying: “That they may bear their burdens in full on the Day of Resurrection, and some of the burdens of those whom they mislead without knowledge”?
Whoever commits a sin, their sin is upon them, as Allah Almighty says: (Every soul, for what it has earned, is retained) and (Every soul, for what it has earned, will be held in pledge). And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, no perpetrator commits a crime but against himself." This does not prevent sin from afflicting one who was a cause of it. So, if someone informs a person of a false report that results in injustice, then the sin is upon the oppressor and aggressor for their injustice and lack of verification, as Allah Almighty says: (O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and then become regretful over what you have done). And each has their own sin: the informant is sinful for their lie or lack of verification, and the oppressor is sinful for their oppression and lack of verification.
