What is the ruling on the saying: "You think you are abandoning prayer by your own will, but the truth is that God no longer wishes to meet you"?

It is probable that the speaker of the phrase "Allah no longer loves to meet you" intends to rebuke the one who abandons prayer, which is a good intention and a correct meaning. However, to assert definitively that Allah no longer loves to meet a specific person is to cast stones at the unseen (rajm bi al-ghayb). The phrase can be improved by saying: "We fear that you have fallen from Allah's sight" or "We fear that Allah no longer loves to meet you." It is preferable to use encouragement by mentioning the virtues of prayer and deterrence through texts from the Qur'an and Sunnah (definition), such as Ibn al-Qayyim's statement that abandoning even one prayer is a greater sin than adultery, theft, drinking alcohol, and killing a soul, by the consensus of Muslims.
