Working in banks that deal with unlawful transactions, such as usury (riba) and the like, is impermissible. This is because it constitutes cooperation in sin and aggression. Allah Almighty says: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty." (Al-Ma'idah: 2). And on the authority of Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the devourer of usury, its client, its scribe, and its two witnesses, and he said: 'They are all alike.'" (Narrated by Muslim). This indicates the prohibition of assisting in falsehood.
