Is there a reward for fasting as an expiation, or is the reward solely for compliance and the lifting of sin?

Fasting for expiation is an act of worship and a right owed to Allah Almighty. There is reward in expiations because they are an act of worship and a补 (completion) for any deficiency resulting from a failure in performing an act of worship. They also serve as a punishment, deterrent, and warning. Expiation may combine the right of Allah, the rights of free people and slaves, and the offender's right to the reward for compliance. Expiation mends what was missed of righteousness, and it covers sin by erasing it or lessening its burden. Ibn Abd al-Salam favors the view that they are restoratives for deficiency because they are an act of worship that requires intention.
