Does the sin of a mature son disobeying his father, after being advised and persisting in his disobedience, fall only upon the son?
It is incumbent upon the father to raise his children to be obedient and to abandon sins, and to be a role model for them. It is not permissible for him to see one of them committing a sin and leave him be; rather, he must advise him and prevent him from it. If the father fulfills his duty, then the sin falls upon the son if he persists in disobedience, for Allah Almighty says: "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another."
