Should one go to the bathroom upon waking up before performing ablution and prayer?
It is not necessary to go to the bathroom upon waking up unless one needs to relieve oneself, remove an impurity, or perform istinja'. If a Muslim does not need to do so, they may perform ablution directly for prayer as Allah Almighty commanded: "O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles" (Al-Ma'idah: 6).
