The first martyr in Islam was Sumayyah bint Khubbat (or Khayyat), the mother of Ammar ibn Yasir—may Allah be pleased with him. Ibn Hajar and Ibn Kathir mentioned that Mujahid said she was the first martyr in Islam, and that Abu Jahl stabbed her with a spear in her private parts.
