Does practicing professions such as singing, acting, or drawing diminish the stature of a person who adheres to the teachings of their religion?

A Muslim must adhere to the teachings of their religion and avoid what is forbidden. A singer who uses musical instruments commits a haram act, and there is a consensus (ijma') on the prohibition of this. As for singing without instruments, its ruling varies depending on its content. Regarding drawing, depicting animate beings in a sculptural form is forbidden by consensus, as is drawing them by hand on canvases, walls, and so forth, according to the majority of scholars, due to the generality of the hadiths. However, drawing inanimate objects is permissible. Based on this, it is difficult for a Muslim to practice the professions of a singer, actor, or painter without falling into what is prohibited.
