Is the Garden of Eden on Earth?

The Garden of Eden is not on Earth, but above the heavens, as Allah states: "By the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, Near it is the Garden of Abode." And the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary is above the heavens. This is further supported by the hadith: "When you ask Allah, ask Him for Al-Firdaws, for it is the middle of Paradise and the highest part of Paradise, and above it is the Throne of the Most Merciful." Ibn al-Qayyim affirmed that Paradise is above the heavens, and he quoted statements from the Companions and the Successors that support this. For example, Ibn Abbas said: "Paradise is in the seventh heaven." What further confirms its elevation is that Paradise has a hundred levels, and between each two levels is a distance like that between the heaven and the earth. The ceiling of its highest level (Al-Firdaws) is the Throne of the Most Merciful.
