The hadith indicates that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was just among his wives despite their gathering in the house of one of them. This gathering was with their full consent, and there was nothing in it to suggest injustice, as the wife whose night it was would be compensated for any diminution of her share by their gathering in her home.

It was permissible for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to extend his hand to Zaynab, either because he thought she was 'Aisha, or because he did so with their consent. Then he withdrew his hand from her when 'Aisha indicated her displeasure.

Also, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would visit all his wives on nights that were not theirs and draw close to each woman without intercourse, and this is permissible for a husband.

As for Abu Bakr's statement, "Throw dust in their mouths," it was to rebuke them for quarreling, and it indicates Abu Bakr's keenness on the Prophet's well-being and comfort.
