The funeral prayer is prescribed only for the deceased. One should never offer the funeral prayer for a living person; praying for the living in this manner is an innovation. Similarly, it is not prescribed to repeat the prayer for a deceased person for whom it has already been offered, nor is it permissible to request the repetition of the funeral prayer for oneself after death.
