Is it permissible to pray over the deceased after burial?

Whoever misses the funeral prayer, there is a great reward for it. And whoever prays over it and follows it until it is buried, there are two qirats of reward for him. It is hoped that for one who intended to attend the funeral prayer but was unable to do so due to the excuse of sleep and not knowing, Allah will record for him the reward of his intention. And he can make up for what he missed by praying over the grave of his brother. Some scholars specify this period as a maximum of one month.
