Alimony for children is obligatory according to what is customary. When there is a dispute over its amount, the matter is referred to the Sharia court for resolution. If the Sharia court rules a specific amount for alimony, the man must pay it. His statement that any amount exceeding their basic needs in his home country is incumbent upon the wife is incorrect.
