Is the following hadith authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Marriage is slavery, so let each of you consider to whom he enslaves his noble daughter"? And what is its degree of authenticity?

The Hadith "Marriage is slavery, so let one of you look to where he places his precious one" is weak in its attribution (رفع) to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Some narrated it as a statement (موقوف) of Aisha and Asma, while others attributed it to Umar ibn al-Khattab. The mawquf (statement of a companion) version is more authentic. It was also mentioned in the Farewell Pilgrimage sermon: "Fear Allah concerning women, for they are awan with you." The meaning of "awan" is captives, because the husband has more authority over his wife after consummation, and her obedience to him takes precedence over her obedience to her parents.
