Is Zakat obligatory on a plot of land that was purchased for trade 20 years ago and has not been sold or generated income to date?

If you purchased the land for residence or for sale and consumption, then there is no zakat due on you. However, if you intended it for trade, and its value reached the nisab on its own or in combination with other money, then zakat is due on it.
