Is Zakat obligatory on a plot of land prepared for trade that has not been sold after a full year has passed, and on another plot of land purchased with the intention of saving for the future?

There is no Zakat on a plot of land purchased without the intention of trade. However, Zakat is obligatory on a plot of land purchased with the intention of trade and sale if a full year has passed over it and its value reaches the nisab, either by itself or when combined with other funds. Its value is assessed at market price at the time the year is completed, and one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%) is to be given from it.
