It is impermissible for a Muslim man to marry a disbelieving woman unless she is a chaste woman of the People of the Book, due to the Almighty's saying: "This day [all] good foods have been made lawful for you. And the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] the chaste women from among the believers and the chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you."
