Should one who suffers from excessive flatulence pray after the prayer time has elapsed, or wait until the flatulence stops?

The condition of one afflicted with excessive flatulence is one of two: 1. If he finds a time slot sufficient for his ablution and prayer without breaking wind, then he must seek out this time and pray with a valid purification. 2. If he suffers from uncontrollable flatulence such that he cannot find a time for valid purification, then he is excused. He must perform ablution for each prayer and pray the obligatory prayer and whatever supererogatory prayers he wishes. His ablution is not invalidated by whatever exits him unless the prayer time ends or by another invalidator.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "So, whoever cannot maintain purity for the duration of the prayer should perform ablution and pray, and he is not harmed by what exits him during the prayer. His ablution is not invalidated by that, by agreement of the Imams. At most, he must perform ablution for each prayer."

It is not permissible for this excused person to delay the prayer beyond its prescribed time. If he delays it, he is obliged to make it up. Regarding ablution for making up a prayer, there is a difference of opinion among scholars, and the more cautious approach is to perform a separate ablution for it.
