Does worldly punishment befall a servant, despite his repentance and seeking forgiveness for viewing pornographic websites, and are there specific acts of obedience that can avert this punishment?

Congratulations on your repentance and your abhorrence of these websites. Sin may punish its perpetrator in this life, but the torment of the Hereafter is more dreadful and greater. Allah Almighty says: "But whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a difficult life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind" (Taha: 124), and "Corruption has appeared on land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return" (Ar-Rum: 41). Nevertheless, if a servant repents with sincere repentance, Allah overlooks his sins and forgives him, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." We advise you to increase in acts of obedience, have good expectations of Allah Almighty, recite the Qur’an, reflect on texts of encouragement and deterrence, and develop the aspect of hope alongside fear. The door of repentance is open as long as the soul has not reached the throat, and Allah's forgiveness encompasses all sins, no matter how great they are. Allah Almighty says: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'"
