Does a woman complete the fasting of the two consecutive months for expiation after ghusl from menstruation, or does she restart the fast from the beginning?

Menstruation does not interrupt the continuity of two consecutive months of fasting; rather, it permits breaking the fast without affecting its continuity, similar to breaking the fast during Ramadan, Eid, postpartum bleeding (nifas), or illness. However, anticipating the onset of menstruation does not permit breaking the fast beforehand. So, if a woman breaks her fast in anticipation of menstruation, and it subsequently occurs, she must make up the missed fast and offer expiation (kaffarah) because she broke her fast before the permissible reason for doing so arose. She must also restart the two consecutive months of fasting from the beginning.
