The answer

A servant blaming himself whenever a misfortune befalls him and feeling that it is due to his sins is a good sign, because the greatest causes of tribulation are sins and disobedience, as Allah Almighty said: "And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is because of what your hands have earned." The servant must increase in seeking forgiveness, performing acts of obedience, and repenting, for by frequently seeking forgiveness and performing righteous deeds after sins, Allah will reward the servant with mercies. The believer should be mindful of the good promises made to the obedient, and that the hardships of this world are few and fleeting, and the most important thing is to attain Allah's pleasure. And he must beware of the devil's disruption, which calls him to despair or to grumble about Allah's decree and destiny.
