Marital disputes are not uncommon in households, and the proper way to address them is to apply Islamic law to ensure justice for the wronged and to remind the oppressor to repent. The son should be a peacemaker between his parents, striving to mend the rift, offering reminders and advice gently and kindly, and removing the causes of conflict to ensure family cohesion and spread affection. Reconciling disputes between people blocks the path of Satan, who seeks to separate spouses. The mother's right is greater than the father's, but when arbitrating between them, justice and fairness must prevail, and the truth must be spoken, even if it is against the mother. The son's role is that of a peacemaker who strives to reform souls, not to judge.
