Is the husband sinful if he marries a second time due to not having children with his first wife, and his inability to bring her to his country of residence and work?
It is permissible for a man to marry a second wife if he is financially and physically capable. However, two matters must be noted: Firstly, a man is not permitted to be absent from his wife for more than four months except with her permission. Otherwise, he must bring her to him or return to her, unless she agrees to his absence. Secondly, justice between the two wives is stipulated in terms of spending, clothing, lodging, and the like. If achieving justice becomes difficult due to the distance between the two wives, such as one being with him and the other far away and he rarely sees her, then he is not permitted to marry a second wife unless the first wife agrees and waives her right to lodging during this long period. Therefore, a man should strive to bring his first wife to him before marrying another.
