Is singing permissible or forbidden? And is the saying of a Companion a proof? And is "there is no denunciation in matters of dispute" a legal maxim? And does Imam Al-Bukhari's hadith concerning musical instruments forbid them? And what are the proofs for the permissibility of singing?

The four Imams and the majority of scholars believe that musical instruments are forbidden, citing as evidence the hadith in Al-Bukhari which states that a group of the Muslim nation will legitimize musical instruments, and they will be transformed into apes and pigs. As for singing without musical instruments, there is a difference of opinion. Playing the duff (a type of tambourine) is permissible at weddings and similar occasions, and this does not contradict the prohibition of musical instruments; it is considered a specific allowance that does not negate the general prohibition. The disagreement regarding the prohibition of musical instruments is very weak, and the hadith of prohibition is authentic and not suspended. The interpretation of this hadith (to permit musical instruments) is invalid, as the severe warning indicates the prohibition of what is made lawful. The attempt to link the prohibition of musical instruments with the permissibility of uncovering the face is a corrupt deduction. Matters should be referred back to the people of knowledge to avoid confusion and error in the religion of Allah.
