What is required of the wife when she reconciles with her husband after telling him, "You are forbidden to me as my mother's breast was forbidden to me," and repeating that, and swearing by Allah that she will not live with him again, and is anything required of her before marital intimacy?

A wife's prohibition of her husband is neither Dhihar nor does it entail a prohibition, and this is the view of the majority of scholars. As for the expiation for a husband's prohibition, jurists have differed on several opinions: some believe that the expiation for Dhihar is obligatory, some believe that no expiation is obligatory at all, and others believe that the expiation for an oath is obligatory. The most preponderant view is that the expiation for an oath is obligatory, and there is no harm in conjugal relations with the wife before performing the expiation.
