And is it forbidden to work in an accounting firm that deals with the prevailing Riba-based system in the country?

It is not permissible to work in an accounting field that involves recording usurious interest or assisting in its expenditure, because it is forbidden usury. Recording it does not fall under the category of writing usury unless it is for documenting the usurious contract.
