It is permissible to wear a chain as long as its design or shape does not contain anything forbidden by Islamic law, or if the wearer does not hold a false belief about it. A Muslim should avoid naming their possessions after false deities or using polytheistic symbols. It is also not permissible to wear a necklace in the shape of a fish, as it falls under the category of statues of animate beings, and the image must be effaced or removed. Furthermore, a Muslim should not overindulge in doubts, especially one who is prone to obsessive thoughts, so as not to fall into difficulty.
