Does a father's work in a cigarette factory, in the absence of an alternative, prevent the acceptance of supplication, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying to Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas: "Make your food good, and your supplication will be answered"?

It is not permissible to work in the manufacturing of tobacco or other prohibited items. The money earned from it must be disposed of by spending it on the welfare of Muslims or their poor, unless the earner himself is poor, in which case he may take from it what is necessary for his basic needs. It is not permissible to remain in such work except out of dire necessity, where there is a fear of perishing or severe hardship, as necessities permit prohibitions. Unlawful earnings prevent prayers from being answered.
