What is the ruling on saying to someone: "May Allah take you," then correcting it by saying: "to Paradise," after the person is startled?

This type of joking is permissible, and it is exemplified by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) joking with the old woman who asked him to pray for her to enter Paradise. He said to her: "O Umm Fulan! An old woman will not enter Paradise!" So she turned away weeping. Then he informed her that she would not enter it while she was old, and that Allah Almighty says: {Indeed, We have produced them in a [new] creation And made them virgins Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age} (Quran 56:35-37). Scholars have cited this hadith in the chapter on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) joking, and the point of evidence in it is that the Prophet's (peace be upon him) clarification of his intent did not immediately follow his initial statement, until the woman became frightened, grieved, and turned away weeping. Similar to this is the joking of Abdullah ibn Umar with Mu'awiyah's mawla when he said to him: "By Allah, I detest striking your face!" intending the general act of striking faces, not striking the mawla's face specifically.
